Gekko certainly enjoyed illustrating this very popular story based on the tale of the 47 Ronin. I have not seen these images in album form but the format and additional information from the colophon of another album strongly suggests they were issued this way. I cannot say in what order the prints were listed, the images here are from uncut oban pages and have two prints per page. They are dated 1891.
